Dear Old High School We are loyal to the White and Blue To the Loyal friendships formed here, We will e'er be true. White and Blue, We love thy banners For thee we will fight; Thy traditions, manners customs, Ever shall be right.
This is our first and official website. We pulled this site together to better help keep in touch and better share the past and future of an exceptional group of people – the 1965 Class of Hazleton High.
Please join us and help build this site as only your participation can. We look forward to hearing from you.

The class reunion committee actually began about 1968 in preparation for the 5th year and very first reunion. Members have come and gone but all have been from the Hazleton area, our current committee contains some of the original committee members from 1968! Why? It's because we genuinely like our class and because we share a feeling of togetherness in that the Class of 1965 is a very special group of people who have made a difference.
Our goal with this web site is to help classmates reconnect. But it's also about much more than recollections and warm memories. What we're really hoping for is to rekindle the spirit that has made being a member of the class of 65 such a unique opportunity for memories, laughs and meeting challenges. Nope, The Class of 65 has a lot to offer, and for the future too,.. so we look forward to Gathering and welcoming all of our classmates from where ever you might be now.
Many of you attended or are aware that we recently had our 45th Reunion. Can you imagine that?! Almost half a century later we found so many and so active classmates that it was hard to believe, the Class of 65 truly does not seem to accept the convention of aging,.. not at all! A lot of work went into that reunion but it was all worth it to see so many old friends. And, now we’re actively planning a fun "65/65" get together before our 50th Reunion that you’ll read more about in the following pages. Join us for that one, we promise a great old Hazleton time to remember...
We really trust that the following pages will bring back warm memories and help you reconnect with our unique HHS. In the meantime, know that this Web Site is a work in process to help better stay in touch and that resulted from conversations at the 45th Reunion. We welcome your comments & suggestions but would especially love to just hear from you, how you're doing, what you're up to these days, and anything else you'd care to share. Please drop a line to Janice@HHS-classof65.com (Janice {Tapper} Bowman), mike@HHS-classof65.com (Mike Brugger) or ray@HHS-classof65.com (web master, Ray Maggio, in the very loosest sense of the endeavor).
Our Committee meets monthly at The Bottleneck Bar & Grill in West Hazleton, (knowing our class, and the Committee members, that venue shouldn’t come as a surprise). Send us a note if you’re in the area and would like to attend,.. all are welcome, we'll even reschedule to accommodate those willing to buy a round, so let’s hear from you or about other classmates we haven’t been able to reconnect with as yet.. (we have some information on about 350 classmates at present so please let us know of others when you check out the listing on the following pages).

In 1965, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed into law the most sweeping healthcare benefits in our nation's history which became part of 'The Great Society'. Yes, Medicare and Medicaid became the law of the land in 1965. Now, to honor that sterling accomplishment,.. and because the Class of 65 becomes eligible before our next reunion, … and also because we’re not getting any younger,( contrary to popular opinion),.. The Committee is holding a very special 65 / 65 CELEBRATION REUNION.
Our monumental birthday is going to be celebrated in style befitting our Hazleton Roots. You'll want to be here if for nothing else than to touch base with that 'wonderful' and colorful Hazleton and HHS Class of 1965 past that's made you what you are. Although some of you might question the benefits of such a heritage, we fully hope you’ll be with us and have no regrets as you see old friends and acquaintances... and rekindle that special bond we have.

The Class of 1965 turns 65 in 2012! How very old that seemed when we graduated, but not anymore. I’ll bet many now feel they’re just getting started on new adventures and planning for new things in the future…. We sincerely hope attending the upcoming 65 / 65 Celebration is among those plans, Mike & The Committee promise a once in a lifetime event (well,..they actually promise a good time but a little embellishment here might put you over the top and get you here…)
The 65 / 65 celebrates a milestone on our journey through life.

The Committee has organized this celebration to be held at White Tail Preserve in Blackcreek Township (www.whitetailpreserve.com) a couple miles down route 93 from Top of the 80’s and follow directions in their web site).
OK, here’s the plan; (naturally, being the Class of 65, don’t expect it to be ‘exact…’
Golf tournament (best ball, captain’s choice):
This is a work in progress as we’re trying to get the Country Club reserved. Plan is for a 9 hole tournament starting around 8 am so that there would be time for skeet shooting and the rest of the ‘picnic’ celebration. Stay tuned BUT Let us know if you’re interested for planning,..should be a lot of fun for every one of all skill levels, even those who never held a club before, and a great way of becoming reacquainted with old friends!
Trap (skeet) shooting for those interested. For reasons that should be readily apparent, there is no shooting after the bar opens, (the noise annoys the bar-tender and that could lead to regrettable spillage… you understand, don’t you??).
Menu as follows:
Open bar, is there any other ‘hazeltonian celebration’ tradition? Beer, soda, coffee and tea (these later drinks may be more appreciated as the day wears on).
11am to 2 pm:
Hamburgers, cheeseburgers, pulled pork (a Carolina favorite)
Ham & Bean Soup
Homemade potato & pasta salads
Beer & Soda (in case you missed it)
4:30pm – 6:30pm:
Chicken & veggies
Sausage & peppers
Beef Marcela w/mushrooms
Rigatoni w/broccoli, garlic & oil
Baked potato, corn on the cob
Assorted brownies (‘legal’ ones, sorry class hippies)
Pineapple coconut bar cake
Beer (to be sure you hadn’t missed this)
Some convenient hotels in the area are:
Hampton Inn (Top of the 80’s) 570-454-3449
Comfort Inn (near the Hampton) 570-455-9300
Fairfield Inn (on 93 across from Penn State Highacres campus) 570-453-0300
Further information or whatever,… for privacy reasons we’re reluctant to post phone numbers here but, in addition to Mike Brugger, Committee members, Ann Veet, Maura Solonoski and Janice Bowman can be found in The Book (remember, ‘the book’ we all used to use to find someone’s phone number?)
Thanks and bring your camera,… it’s a CELEBRATION! Hope to see you there…. Ray
Remember, August 11th, and to RSVP by July 15 please
